City Employee Benefits

Eligible employees of the City are provided a wide range of benefits. A number of programs (such as Social Security, workers' compensation, and unemployment insurance) cover all employees in the manner prescribed by law.  

Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance

The City and the employee share in the cost of the plans.  Medical (prescription plan included), dental, and vision plans are available to employees, retirees, and other eligible dependents.

Pensions

Employees participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). Retirement benefits are based on years of service and wages earned. Employees contribute 4.5% to the pension.

Deferred Compensation & Roth IRA Plan

Employees are eligible to participate in a voluntary 457 and Roth IRA retirement savings plan through National Public Pension Fund Association (NPPFA).  Employees are allowed to make contributions up to the maximum allowed by law. 

Life Insurance

The City offers a Life and AD&D plan for eligible employees.  This coverage would also include an employees spouse and any eligible dependents.

Paid time off includes vacation, sick leave, holiday, and personal days.
